Stanford University School of Medicine sets the training ground for the next generation of biomedical leaders and pioneers. The Assistant Dean of MD Admissions has overarching responsibility for leading and managing all operational aspects of the MD Admissions process, from initial outreach to matriculation. Specifically, the Assistant Dean designs, implements, and maintains all programs, policies, and systems that support student admissions. She/he also manages the human resources, administrative, and logistical support for the office and works alongside the Associate Dean in strategic planning, program development, and funding outreach. Duties include but are not limited to: Oversee recruitment/outreach aspects of the Office of MD Admissions. Evaluate department policies and develop and implement procedures. Manage and supervise recruitment staff. Assist efforts in human resources management, including staff hiring, orientation/training, staff development, and performance assessment to provide guidance, recognition, and support. Develop outreach and recruitment strategies. Participate in the assessment of the qualifications of prospective students utilizing established admissions standards, guidelines, and criteria. Utilize reporting to inform a continuous improvement model that drives attracting and selecting the most academically talented and diverse students. Develop curricula and teaching materials for the recruitment/outreach activities, including staff training, file reviewer training courses, interviewer training courses, and other educational activities. Determine and execute on
appropriate instruction methods to deliver the curricula and teaching materials. Represent Stanford University School of Medicine to various constituents and at multiple events throughout the country. Serve as one of the liaisons to outside constituents in collaborative efforts of program reporting and data analysis for recruitment efforts, multiple mini interview (MMI) outcomes, and candidate surveys. In collaboration with the Associate Dean, explore and develop mission-related programs for pipeline enhancements such as partnerships with community college pathway programs, special programs, financial aid initiatives, and other initiatives. Write and/or edit new program proposals and grant applications to facilitate recruitment/outreach initiatives such as the development of a new post-baccalaureate program, new clinical education pathways, diversity enhancement programs, etc. Based on the analyses of admissions trends, evaluation of the MMI, and outcomes
of various constituent surveys, contribute to publications. Research and oversee data for public and private information and reports for distribution to the Faculty Senate (Annual Report), Consortium statistics, website content, supplementary application content, AAMC publications (Medical School Admissions Requirements book), and national reports (e.g., US News & World Report). Oversee the recruitment/outreach aspects of the Admissions group’s finances. Set the financial parameters, manage the financial resources, perform financial analyses, and conduct long-range financial planning of recruitment efforts Come make one of the best medical schools in the world even better!Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
- Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
