    Job Description
    Associate Director, Director of Science and Health Professions Advising '68 Center for Career Exploration We are pleased to announce the opening of an Associate Director, Director of Science and Health Professions Advising in the '68 Center for Career Exploration. The '68 Center for Career Exploration prepares students for their professional lives after Williams. The Center offers expert advising and a wide range of innovative internship, job, and graduate school exploration programs. Our mission is to empower students to explore, define, and achieve their post-graduate goals. Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director, Director of Science and Health Professions Advising advises students and alumni through the Health Professions graduate school application process (MD, MPA, DVM, MPH, PA. Nursing, etc.). In addition, they support undergraduate students in their exploration of careers in science through internships, jobs, fellowships, and other career-related opportunities and plays an important overall team role at the '68 Center for Career Exploration.     Minimum Qualifications
    Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Advise students about curricular and extracurricular requirements for entry to health profession graduate schools and STEM fields through individual and group advising sessions and programs.
    • Support the applications of all Williams students and alumni to graduate schools of the health professions including, but not limited to composing committee letters, creating and facilitating application process workshops, and having direct communication with medical school personnel on behalf of individual applicants
    • Advise undergraduates about internship and career opportunities in STEM+psychology in individual counseling sessions.
    • Create programs for science/HP career exploration including Career Treks, “How'd You Get There?” speakers, coffee chats, panels, job shadowing, graduate school visits, testing, etc.
    • Participate in all activities that support the '68 Center mission, including but not limited to Quick Questions, staff meetings, resume and cover letter review; interview preparation; review of personal statements for graduate school; delivery of career-related workshops and job fair, ASIP intern selection, etc.
    • Collaborate with offices, departments, faculty, and student organizations across campus.
    • Advise and support student health-careers-centered groups.
    • Supervise Health Professions Coordinator, Advisor, and student staff in all aspects of supporting A.D. role, including scheduling and logistical assistance, correspondence with medical schools, and management of medical school applicants.
    • Represent Williams College at regional and national meetings of health professions advisors and medical school personnel. Actively and collegially engage with advisor colleagues. 

    Preferred Qualifications

    It is preferred that candidates for the position hold a Master's degree with 3 - 10 years' experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with student advising and program management is essential. Familiarity with the health professions graduate-school admissions process is essential. Exceptionally strong relationship building, networking, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential.
