  • Admissions Counselor/Advisor, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (Yakima, WA)

    General Summary:
    This position primarily functions as the on-campus contact for applicant advising and supports the overall department goals and objectives. Daily responsibilities include phone, in-person, and email advising, and guiding individual and group tours requiring a student/customer service oriented individual. This position assists with community outreach, applicant interviews, and application review. This person will need to become familiar with university procedures, policies, and services in order to assist applicants, students, potential students, their families, faculty, staff, and university visitors. This position reports to the Director of Admission.

    Essential Job Functions:
    • Maintain a communication plan with prospective students and pre-health advisors using best practices that improve and maintain customer service
    • Advise prospective students in-person, by phone, and email on admission process and the University in a one-on-one and group setting
    • Represent the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, families, advisors, and other individuals and groups. Plan and implement recruitment events and tours for both individuals and groups, some may occur outside of normal work hours and require some travel
    • Review and score admission applications for the purpose of making admission decisions, data entry and notes maintained in a secured information system
    • Evaluate and communicate academic prerequisite requirements
    • Assists with monitoring and maintaining web pages for department
    • Complete routine reports related to recruitment and applications
    • Follows federal financial aid policies and procedures when counseling prospective students
    • Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
    • Conduct appropriate and consistent with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Required: Bachelor's Degree

    • Required: Customer service or related experience
    • Required: Microsoft Outlook and Word
    • Preferred: One to three years of higher education
    • Preferred: Zoom, Microsoft Excel, Teams, and SharePoint
    • Required: Valid Driver's License
