  • Admissions Counselor, Sherman College of Chiropractic (Spartanburg, SC)

    Duties / Responsibilities

    • To foster relationships with prospective students and to serve as a primary resource for those students as they progress through the admission process
    • To maintain regular contact with prospective students via phone and/or electronic media to answer questions and facilitate their matriculation
    • To maintain accurate admission applicant records, documenting all contacts with applicants in their files
    • To have a thorough knowledge of the prospective student database and create dashboard reports for enrollment services measures
    • To maintain up-to-date knowledge of pre-chiropractic educational requirements and knowledge of existing admission standards
    • To evaluate college transcripts, identifying appropriate courses for the satisfaction of prerequisite requirements
    • To conduct pre-admission meetings with prospective students and provide admission counseling
    • To communicate knowledge of the campus and campus life to prospective students during admission process
    • To meet established benchmarks for admission counseling activities and report progress to the director for admissions and recruiting
    • To foster relationships between prospective students and key representatives from the college (i.e. current students, faculty and alumni)
    • To participate in all on-campus admission events, including planning stages
    • To be a resource for the development of materials
    • To represent Sherman College at colleges, universities, and other events, both locally and nationally
    • To identify and assist in outreach efforts to build community relationships and to develop opportunities for student recruitment with external organizations
    • To participate in professional development opportunities as needed and permitted by budget
    • To manage time effectively, focus daily work on key strategic initiatives and assist others in the department as needed
    • To participate in annual strategic planning process
    • To lend enthusiastic support to college policies and to fellow co-workers, particularly in the presence of students
    • To participate in the annual Lyceum, Showcase Sherman, campus visits and ROAR program events
    • To fulfill other duties as assigned by the director for admissions and recruiting
    • To demonstrate commitment to the mission of Sherman College at all times

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree
    Previous experience in college admissions or related setting
    Ability to write, read, and speak English fluently
    Ability to travel overnight for up to 12 weeks per year to an assigned territory
    Willingness to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    Excellent organizational, interpersonal and supervisory skills
    Excellent computer skills
    Valid driver’s license

    Preferred Qualifications
    Minimum 4 years of previous college admissions office experience
    Bilingual in English and Spanish
    Experience working with alumni and volunteers
    Chiropractic knowledge
