    Duties / Responsibilities

    - Provide direction, leadership and vision for the CHPSS office
    - Provide the supervision and training of five CHPSS Academic Advisors, Office Coordinator and Advising Program Assistant
    - Run weekly staff meetings
    - Coordinate annual staff retreats
    - Oversee the daily operations of the College of Health Professions Student Services (CHPSS) Office at GVSU’s Health Campus, Grand Rapids, MI
    - Oversee the coordination of academic advising services of its ten undergraduate majors, six emphases, six combined degrees, and ten graduate programs
    - Ensure provision of direct academic advising and support services to CHP and university students via in person, email, phone and/or zoom
    - Oversee and share the work of program liaisons to designated CHP undergraduate and graduate programs
    - Manage annual budget
    - Meet with and provide academic advising services to students pursuing CHP degrees
    - Answer questions regarding degree requirements and curriculum
    - Set up and review degree progress plans
    - Assist with course selection and registration questions or issues
    - Assist with understanding and following university policies and procedures
    - Provide information regarding university resources
    - Assist with Advising and Registration/Orientation of New Students (FYAR) and Transfer Student Advising (TSAR)
    - Support the work of the Laker Academic Advising Network (LAAN)
    - Oversee student retention to include outreach campaigns to non-registered students and those who are not in good academic standing
    - Maintain direct contact with academic department chairs regarding academic advising, admissions processes and the training of new faculty and staff
    - Work directly with the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and other advising directors across the campus to assure the accomplishment of University-level advising goals and objectives
    - Oversee the annual processing of CHP undergraduate and graduate applications
    - Assist with prerequisite and GPA review
    - Oversee the presence at CHP and Grand Valley State University recruiting events, presentations, and graduate school fairs for prospective students, parents, and high school counselors and greater Grand Rapids community
    - Serve as a point of contact for prospective student program inquires
    - Serve as a resource person and student advocate in the admissions processes within each CHP department
    - Review and edit marketing materials
    - Provide review of CHP catalog copy for new programs and/or program change request
    - Oversight for CHP SS electronic communications
    - Coordinate evaluation of transfer credit with directors of CHP SS academic programs
    - Represent College of Health Professions on the University Academic Advising - Leadership Council (UAALC)
    - Serve as a nonvoting member of the 1) Dean’s Executive Committee and 2) CHP’s - Department Chair Council 3) Graduate Director’s Council
    -Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Master’s degree in higher education, student services, academic services or related area
    2. Minimum 8 years combined experience in higher education, student services, academic advising and/or related experience
    3. Administrative, personnel, and financial management experience
    4. Experience to successfully work under pressure and meet deadlines
    5. Efficient organizational skills with the ability to collaborate with team
    6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty and staff
    7. Presentation and public speaking experience
    8. Ensure extraordinary customer service to Grand Valley students, staff, faculty, and the community
    9. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Previous healthcare academic advising experience
    2. Experience with secondary admission programs
