    Duties / Responsibilities
    •Organize and maintain pre-health advising office (manage resources, interview space and recording technology; organizing test prep information, academic paths, gap year options, etc.)
    •Develop and oversee programming for pre-health students at all levels
    •Develop and oversee a peer advising program
    •Hold orientation meetings and regular advising hours specifically for pre-health students
    •Maintain communications via various modes including the pre-health website
    •Collect and analyze data on pre-health students related to performance, retention, and admittance
    •Assist in student recruitment by contacting and responding to prospective students, meeting with high school guidance counselors, and creating materials
    •Manage articulation agreements and recruit students into articulation agreement programs
    •Identify students to be interviewed and coordinate the interview process
    •Set up and monitor internship/shadowing/community service activities and organize site visits
    •Collaborate with campus partners (Enrollment Management, Career and Professional Development, the Office of Academic Advising, and others) on initiatives related to pre-health and the health professions, such as an annual grad fair and on-campus events
    •Co-develop and teach two Pre-Health courses
    •Teach two summer 0-credit online courses
    •Co-author annual report and author other documents as needed
    •Serve as an active member of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP) and seek a leadership role; attend the annual Florida Pre-Health Advisors’ Meeting
    •Develop and offer spring break and summer opportunities for pre-health students (including summer study abroad)
    •Participate in program fundraising activities as appropriate
    •Perform other site- and position-specific functions as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree required. Previous experience in an advising, counseling or higher education teaching environment is highly desirable. The Health Professions Advisor should demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the University’s goal of being a diverse community of inclusive excellence. The position requires a high level of organization; ability to work independently; attention to detail; initiative; good judgment and the ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity; excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships and trust with internal and external constituents; strong computer and technological skills; and the motivation to explore and learn new technologies. The ideal candidate will have the qualifications and experience needed to teach one or two courses per year that contribute to the pre-health curriculum.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master’s degree strongly preferred.
