    Duties / Responsibilities

    ● Leads pre-health advising activities for the College of Health Solutions to familiarize students with the requirements and application processes for professional schools, including medical, naturopathic, chiropractic, dental, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, podiatry, and veterinary.
    ● Uses eAdvisor, NAAHP, and other health professions advising resources; assists students to understand professional school GPA requirements; identifies prerequisite courses; supports students with applying t to health professional schools; and monitors student progress and tracks student success through a variety of reporting tools.
    ● Provides feedback and guidance to prehealth students through one-on-one meetings, personal statement reviews, and mock interviews.
    ● Coordinates programs to engage and advance pre-health students, including the Medical Mentoring Program, Health Professions Mentoring Program, and workshops with partner programs like Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, A. T. Still University, Creighton University, Midwestern University, University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University.
    ● Supports and/or advises pre-health student organizations like the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), American Medical Women's Association (AMWA), Pre-Physician Assistant Club, Future Health Professionals (HOSA), Pre-Dental Student Association, and Physical Therapy Club.
    ● Manages summer experiences for prospective pre-health high school students, including the Summer Health Institute (SHI) and health-related electives in the Barrett Summer Scholars program.
    ● Develops and disseminates information via College of Health Solutions and pre-health websites, newsletters, social media, and promotional materials.
    ● May supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff working with pre-health services and student support activities.
    ● Represents the College of Health Solutions on the Pre-Health Advising Network, works regularly with the Pre-Health Internship Program, acts as a liaison to college and university committees related to health professions, and establishes networks with local, regional, and national health professional schools as well as other health professions advisors.
    ● Serves as college/department liaison to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and external groups on issues related to health professions advising and activities.
    ● Coordinates with college academic advisors to identify students' potential interest in health professional schools as early as possible to synergize and support efforts.
    ● Works closely and collaboratively with directors to implement policies, practices, and initiatives in support of college, hub, and university goals.
    ● Identifies metrics of success, collects data, and prepares administrative reports to guide the evolution of programming and efforts to improve pre-health services.
    ● Responds to student questions and concerns in a timely manner and works with students and families to resolve all issues to ensure ongoing satisfaction and successful progress to application.
    ● Primarily serves pre-health students on the Downtown Phoenix campus, but supports College of Health Solutions pre-health students at the Polytechnic, West, and Tempe campuses, as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Master's degree in a related field, AND four (4) years experience in one or more of the following: advising, recruitment/retention, other related student services in a college/university environment, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    Preferred Qualifications

    ● Experience as a health professions advisor or working with pre-health students.
    ● Demonstrated knowledge of professional school requirements, processes, and applications.
    ● Experience advising college students, coordinating university programs, or working with student organizations.
    ● Evidence of effective communication skills, including experience proofreading and providing feedback on writing.
    ● Experience working with high school summer programs or camps.
    ● Experience within the health care field.
    ● Experience in work that required being self-motivated, self-directed, efficient, a quick learner, highly organized and having a positive attitude.
