- Monitors and communicates changes in standardized test (e.g., MCAT) policies and/or procedures as they impact candidates. - Supports the Director of Pre-Health Professions Program in the university’s Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee Process. - Advises relevant pre-health related student organizations. - Collaborates with entire Pre-Health Professions Program and Career Services Team on special events, outreach, and career education activities
In addition to the Key Responsibilities, the position will be responsible for: *Advising pre-health students on preparing and applying for professional health programs, such as medical, dental or veterinary schools *Organizing workshops for students on topics such as pre-health preparation, application procedures, MCAT, interview skills, and letters of evaluation *Coordinating application support to include but not limited to, reviewing letters of evaluation for applicants, organizing and certifying faculty reference letters, and conducting mock interviews *Supporting the coordination and promotion of Pre-Health events *Advising pre-health student organizations *Supervising pre-health peer advisors and supporting student-driven events Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: students, parents and faculty, staff
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required in education, liberal arts and sciences, business or a related field Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in higher education student personnel, student affairs, or administration, college student development, or a related field At least one year of academic advising, career services, and/or admission experience in higher education Working knowledge of graduate admission processes, MCAT/DAT/GRE testing, and pre-health resources for students Advanced listening and communication skills Capacity to support students of greatly diverse backgrounds Experience with student databases and degree audit systems Familiarity with student development theory and FERPA The University of Illinois at Chicago is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse pluralistic faculty and staff committed to teaching in a multicultural environment
