This visionary leader will execute university recruitment and admissions efforts and will have the authority and responsibility for the student admissions process utilized by all programs in the colleges at Upstate Medical University. This role requires excellent organizational and collaboration skills to direct recruitment efforts on and off campus, application processes, applicant interviews, and final admission decisions. Will serve as the chair of the College of Medicine Admissions Committee and will direct the efforts of staff to facilitate the admissions committees/efforts in the Colleges of Health Professions, Nursing and Graduate Studies. Will oversee program and project management and will align the enrollment process with Upstate's mission, priorities, and strategic plan. Will provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to Student Admissions staff and will have demonstrated experience in team building resulting in efficient and effective operations. Will instill a commitment to quality and shared goals among all staff members. Will focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion and will utilize data analytics to track outcomes of all efforts. Will be a visible, engaged, and supportive presence in day-to-day operations. Will use technology to optimize performance and outcomes. Will collaborate with Financial Aid to award recruitment scholarship and with the Registrar’s Office to ensure integrity of the student record.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree and ten or more years of progressive leadership in Admissions and Enrollment Management, including substantial leadership/management experience and simultaneous responsibility for multiple program/college admissions. Must have a collaborative leadership style, including progressive supervisory experience. Budgeting experience is required. Must have strong strategic ability and exceptional written and spoken communication and superior presentation skills. Experience with Customer Service Management (Slate) systems and a Students Data System, such as BANNER, are required. Must be able to work with faculty and deans to define admissions criteria and to select candidates for admission across all programs. Must be able to develop and enhance relationships with feeder institutions to increase student access to Upstate’s academic programs. Additionally, must understand and stay abreast of job market trends for the fields for which we train students. Must have a creative approach to student recruitment, problem solving, and the ability to take advantage of emerging opportunities. Must have the ability to assess strengths and weakness of staff members and, based on organizational needs, assign responsibilities and duties. Must be able to provide direct and constructive feedback. Must be able to focus on details while keeping the big picture in mind.
