About the Event:

The Southeastern Medical Scientist Symposium is an annual meeting of MD/PhD students, MD students and undergraduates from the southeastern United States. SEMSS was started in 2010 by MD/PhD students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Emory University, and Vanderbilt University. The goal of the symposium is to bring together faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students from schools around the southeastern United States to foster discussion about physician scientist career paths and research and encourage a collaborative and interdisciplinary educational environment within the region. To date, the symposium remains entirely student planned and implemented and continues to expand each year. Travel awards are available for undergraduate attendees.
