About The Advisor

The Advisor is the professional journal published quarterly by the NAAHP. A printed hardcopy and online access to past issues of The Advisor through the NAAHP website are benefits of membership.

The Advisor Instructions for Authors

The Advisor publishes three basic categories of papers: Research articles, Viewpoint (descriptive or opinion pieces), and Reports (short papers). Priority is given to original papers submitted by health professions advisors. Secondary priority is assigned to health professional schools and health professional school associations. Articles other than reprints must assign copyright to the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions, Inc.

Submitting Manuscripts

An electronic version of the manuscript must be submitted, preferably as a Word document (.docx). This must be accompanied by a cover letter stating the author’s professional position and institutional affiliation (please include email address). In addition, the author must submit a brief abstract of the article along with 4-6 keywords as identifiers in a literature search. Articles of any length will be reviewed but published articles are typically between 2500 – 5000 words. Authors are asked to use APA style for citations within and references at the conclusion of published articles. (www.apastyle.org/index.aspx)

After manuscripts are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and, when appropriate, the Editorial Review Board, authors will be notified of whether the articles have been accepted for publication.
