PREP:
UCLA PREP is a 5-week program designed to provide premedical and pre-dental students from disadvantaged backgrounds with a means of strengthening their ability and readiness to study medicine or dentistry. As a result of full participation in UCLA PREP, participants should have enhanced their chances of being accepted to medical or dental school and succeeding once there. There are 30 participants in this program. For more information on UCLA PREP please visit http://medschool.ucla.edu/current-ucla-prep.

SHPEP:
The UCLA/Drew SHPEP serves as a model learning community in which scholars examine a variety of healthcare issues affecting medically underserved communities through problem-based learning cases, lectures, clinical experiences, small-group discussions, and a research project. Scholars will also improve their learning skills and strengthen their foundation in science. Upon completion of this six-week program, scholars will be more aware of the urgent need for health care professionals in medically underserved communities and of the educational pathways that lead to providing medical, dental, and nursing services to underserved populations. There are 80 participants from throughout the United States in our program during the summer. For more information on SHPEP please visit www.shpep.org or our UCLA/Drew SHPEP site at http://medschool.ucla.edu/current-ucla-shpep.

UCLA RAP:
The UCLA Reapplicant Program is a comprehensive, structured program designed to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have been unsuccessful in gaining admission to any U.S. medical school. The 11-month program begins with an intensive eight-week summer session, focused upon prerequisite science review and MCAT preparation.

Distinguished guest lecturers will also provide seminars and workshops discussing:
  • Academic skills
  • Extensive and lively reviews of biology, chemistry, and physics
  • Self-development & time management
  • Financial planning
  • Medical school re-application, and interviewing skills
10-15 students participate in this program. For more information on the UCLA RAP please visit http://medschool.ucla.edu/current-ucla-rap.
