Job Description: The Academic Success Coordinator (Pre-health) will serve as the principal source of information and advice to online students in The School of Life Sciences about preparation for health professions including medical, dental, podiatry, optometry, and physician assistant fields. The advisor will work closely with the Pre-Health Advising Office and will directly advise the cohort of online students in The School of Life Sciences who are pursuing careers in the health professions. Assist students in assessing their interests, values, and abilities as related to their educational/career goals through zoom, phone, and email exchanges. The advisor will design and deliver information to online students who are at various stages in their preparation for professional school, and provide print and electronic advising resources.
The Academic Success Coordinator (Pre-health) will work with the unit (School of Life Sciences), The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the university to support and develop strategies to ensure the success of online students in the School of Life Sciences who are interested in careers in the health professions.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree AND one year previous experience in one or more of the following: advising, student recruitment/retention or related student services utilizing a proactive and innovative approach which results in demonstrated outcomes in retention, graduation, and academic planning; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of a Master’s degree in a science, health related, or communication/counseling field and 1-3 years of experience in pre-health advising, recruitment, or admissions preferred.
Evidence of effective communication skills and proven track record working across diverse lines in a higher education setting.
Experience in using technology to enhance online reach and visibility a plus.
Experience advising in an online environment.
Demonstrated knowledge with salesforce or email communication with students.
