Job Description: The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is recruiting for a Health Professions Preparation Coach/Advisor who will provide advising and support for students who have identified themselves as aspiring Health Professions students. Methods may include (but are not limited to) workshops, one-on-one meetings, and group advising, with a focus on the needs of first-year students who are exploring their health career options, and those who have yet to complete the course prerequisites needed for their chosen pathway. The incumbent will work closely with the advisors for Allied Health Professions students in the Office for Academic and Pre-Professional Advising, to develop coordinated/collaborative programming for students who are exploring pathways to a health-oriented career. Support for Admissions and Orientation events is also expected.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with four years’ experience in Advising, Counseling, Career Services, or a related field, is required. A completed Master's Degree in a related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience advising health and/or allied health professions students is preferred
