Job Description: Provides academic advising, career advising, and extracurricular advising for university’s pre-health student and alumni population.
- Communicates current expectations and changes in health professional school admission processes and standards.
- Monitors and communicates changes in standardized test (e.g., MCAT) policies and/or procedures as they impact candidates.
- Supports the Director of Pre-Health Professions Program in the university’s Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee Process.
- Advises relevant pre-health related student organizations.
- Collaborates with entire Pre-Health Professions Program and Career Services Team on special events, outreach, and career education activities. Limited evening and weekend responsibilities.
- Create and present educational workshops, both individually and in conjunction with campus partners.
- Serve as a primary writer for the university’s Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee Letter process.
- Create new and nurture current working relationships with health professional school admission personnel and faculty.
- Lead admissions and academic advising process for the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Program.
- Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and campus partners on issues related to pre-health advising and education.
- Contribute to the overall function if the Pre-Health Professions Program.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, College Student Personnel, Psychology Counseling, Psychology or related field.
– A minimum of 1 to 2 years of pre-health advising experience, or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, College Student Personnel, Psychology Counseling, Psychology or related field.
- A minimum of 1 to 2 years of pre-health advising experience, or related experience.
- Experience multitasking and project management.
- Strong written communication skills essential due to heavy emphasis on writing large volume of Committee Letters in summer. Writing sample required.
- Experience working with undergraduate students.
- Knowledge of or experience with pre-health or other high achieving student populations.
- Knowledge of or experience with one or more health professions.
- Self-directed learner
