    Job Description
    The position of Professional Academic Advisor follows a 10-month schedule and reports directly to the Associate Director of Academic Advising which is housed within the Division of Student Affairs. This person will provide direct academic advising services to primarily first and second-year students, as well as students at risk or in academic difficulty.

    Major Responsibilities 
    • Advising students on a variety of issues including transition and adjustment to the University, setting goals, developing an educational and personal plan, providing referrals to campus resources, selecting and scheduling courses, career exploration, monitoring student progress, assisting in transition issues
    • Teaching academic success courses
    • Participating in University committees related to academic advising and first-year experience.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, or related discipline
    • At least 1-year experience in teaching college-level courses
    • At least 2 years experience in academic advising

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with health science majors, students in professional programs, and those applying to medical, veterinary and dental programs
    • Experience working with student-athletes or career exploration is also relevant.
