Soka University of America (SUA) seeks to fill a full-time 12-month staff position as a Health Professions Advisor (HPA) beginning in August 2022. The HPA works to orient incoming pre-health students; advise and track pre-health students; assist students’ exploration from pre-matriculation through graduation; improve students’ competitiveness through test prep, co-curricular, and extracurricular opportunities; and support pre-health students and alumni in their preparation for applying to health professions programs (medicine, dentistry, veterinary, physical therapy, physician’s assistant, and other health-related fields). This student-centered position will prepare students directly through mock interviews, review of application materials, advising meetings, writing committee letters, and maintaining an internal website of critical information about pre-requisites, test prep, and clinical opportunities. The HPA will communicate with Admissions, Career Development, and Life Sciences and other faculty, as well as serving as a bridge to external clinical experiences. Candidates who could teach one semester of Anatomy per academic year are especially encouraged to apply. The HPA will report to the Director of the Life Sciences Concentration.
