    Husson University's College of Science and Humanities invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor and Coordinator of Pre-Medicine to begin in fall 2021. Candidates for this position are expected to have experience teaching introductory and upper-level courses in anatomy & physiology, nutrition, pathophysiology, immunology, or virology - depending upon the area of specialization. The successful candidate will also demonstrate past leadership ability essential for this position to provide guidance for a rapidly growing Pre-Medicine program. This program gives students the necessary preparation for successful entry to the medical professions, including osteopathic medicine.

    The Pre-Medicine program complements existing programs within the College of Science and Humanities, which also offers undergraduate degrees in Exercise Science and Biology, as well as baccalaureate programs for Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, and Physical Therapy professional degrees offered through the College of Health and Pharmacy.

    Duties / Responsibilities

    Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper-level courses in nutrition for undergraduate students in the major and other related courses, based on the needs of the department. The successful candidate will also fulfill faculty expectations for teaching, advising, service, and scholarship as outlined in university policies. The position requires teaching 24 credits per academic year, with additional opportunities possible.

    As Coordinator of the Pre-Medicine program, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the degree curriculum, including course development and assessment, advisor training and oversight, and ongoing maintenance and growth of clinical partnerships in order to provide outstanding educational opportunities for students.

    The position involves service to the College, participation in admissions events, and interaction with the internal and external community in a collegial and professional manner at all times.

    Note: This is a face-to-face position; candidates are expected to be on campus.

    Education & Experience

    Minimum Qualifications:
    The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate with a strong background in Nutrition or a related field and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising. Candidates should also have the ability and desire to develop an undergraduate research program.

    Preferred qualifications:
    Previous higher education teaching experience in nutrition or related courses; experience mentoring students seeking admission to professional health programs.
