    Duties/Responsibilities
    Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • developing an advising relationship that supports student’s interests, experience, values, and skills
    • holding regular advising appointments
    • working with students to build their proficiency in using related technology such as Pathway, Canvas, UMKC Connect, and PlanMyDegree
    • proficient user of UMKC Connect, prioritizes utilization through regular engagement, accurate advising notes and timely use of and follow up on early alert activity
    • monitoring enrollment and academic progress
    • working with students who may need additional support or who are returning to good academic standing
    • working to support retention initiatives
    • attending weekly team meetings, advisor trainings, Advisor’s Forum
    • assisting with Walk-In Advising
    • working on team projects as assigned
    • seeking regular opportunities to participate in advancing knowledge and skills as relate to advising, including working to identify areas for improvement, problem-solving, project development and implementation
    • participation through service to advising, students, UMKC, and community

    Minimum Qualifications
    A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master’s degree preferred. 2 - 3 years of experience in student services and/or academic advising desirable.
