Position Summary:
Mount Holyoke College invites applications for the full-time 37.5 hours per week benefited year-round position of Administrative Assistant in the Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Programs. The College enjoys an excellent reputation for preparing students for post-graduate study in the health professions, and is currently consolidating its undergraduate prehealth program with an expanding post-baccalaureate program. The combined pre-health programs at Mount Holyoke help students, alumnae, and graduates of other colleges with all aspects of their preparation for professional training in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, physical therapy, public health, and other health fields.
Position Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Director of Pre-Health Programs and assists the Director with all aspects of the College’s pre-professional programs in health-related disciplines. Responsibilities of this position include: Support to advising for students at all stages of their preparation for health professions, hosting on-campus visits by alumnae and recruiters, greeting students and visitors arriving for appointments, creating and coordinating marketing, advertising and admissions representation for the Post-Baccalaureate program, maintaining student files, tracking applicants, preparing activities reports, managing student registration and advising appointments, and serving as clerk to the Committee on the Health Professions. Other support responsibilities include: Updating print and web-based communication, maintaining library and print resources, preparing workshop materials, managing the posting of clinical internship opportunities, assisting with budget management, check requests, and monthly financial reports, and regular communication with faculty as well as health professionals. This position oversees a part-time student assistant.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have excellent office and time management skills, with at least 3 years experience required. Qualified candidates must be detail-oriented, resourceful, able to work independently and as part of a team. Applicants must be able to juggle multiple tasks with ease and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills are important. A genuine commitment to providing quality customer service for college students, graduate health professions programs, and college staff is expected. Applicants should be at ease with technology and web-based research, and specifically well-versed with Datatel software including the Colleague application, Microsoft programs, and Web page editing. Experience and confidence with budget management and financial transactions is preferred as well as prior work experience with college students and higher education. An Associate’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Nominations are requested for the position of Director of the Post-baccalaureate Pre-professional Program of Thomas Jefferson University. The Program expects to matriculate its first students in the summer of 2009. The Jefferson ‘Career Changer’
Post-Bac program will be one year in duration and will offer students with strong academic backgrounds and demonstrated undergraduate performance in non-science majors the opportunity to complete the requisite coursework for admission to leading medical, dental, veterinary, pharmacy and other professional schools. The unique healthcare educational resources of Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital and its Center City Philadelphia location will enhance the attractiveness of the program to the most qualified students.
The Director, operating in conjunction with the Office of the Dean, will be responsible for implementing the initial organization and ongoing operation of the program including identification of faculty (for core courses in general and organic chemistry, biology, physics); recruitment activities and evaluation of applicants in conjunction with our admissions office; mentoring and professional advising of students; and coordinating clinical exposure opportunities and
post-bac program community activities. pre-health professions advising program. This position will also have
responsibility for coordinating advising for freshmen seeking to enter science
majors.

advisors provide academic advising and support to an advising load of 150-175
students from the time of their admission until they enter their majors. This
advisor will be expected to provide accurate, current curricular information to
assist students in academic program planning and goal clarification, with a
concentration on students seeking to enter the science majors or the health
professions. The advisor will be expected to teach a freshman seminar class each
fall semester.
The position requires a Master’s
degree. The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written
